Objective
Create practical tools that help people engage with the islands in more regenerative ways.
Execution
These guides invite visitors and locals to appreciate the nature and character of the islands, fostering greater respect for what makes them special—and encouraging mindfulness around personal impact. They also gently encourage exploration beyond the islands’ most over-loved places.

We created these two guides in response to a shift toward a more regenerative tourism strategy for Whidbey and Camano Islands. In the wake of the pandemic, Whidbey and Camano Islands Tourism took a deep breath, reflecting on what visitors experience here—and how they might interact with the islands’ nature, culture, and communities in ways that are positive, respectful, and sustaining over time.

Our studio spearheaded the creation of these pieces in partnership with WCIT and the rest of the marketing team. From original concepts through delivery and distribution, we guided the process every step of the way. The project brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including Washington State Parks, local tribal governments, and the WA state historical society.
To date, more than 140,000 guides have been printed and distributed.
